You’ve probably heard that you need to walk 10,000 steps every day to maintain good health. How does this work?

When we walk, our muscles function as a pump, improving the flow of blood through our veins and tissues. This increases blood flow to the brain and saturates the brain cells with oxygen and valuable microelements. These processes directly affect creativity and even the way we think.
If during walking your back is relaxed and the support goes to the center of the feet – the fluids in the body flow correctly through their channels. This relaxes the facial muscles and makes the neck clamps go away. This contributes to the blood and oxygen flow to the facial tissues, skin cell renewal and smoothing.
But why exactly everyone tell us to walk 10,000 and not, say, 11,000 steps? The thing is, the 10,000-step theory was originally a publicity stunt used to sell one of the earliest pedometers created in Japan in the 1960s and called “Manpo-kei”(万歩計).

But 10,000 steps a day is not a one-fits-all norm. Determining your exercise rate depends directly on your goal, state and many, many factors.
To make walking a useful and pleasant pastime, choose a beautiful route and head out. And also don’t forget about high-quality comfortable shoes!
